SHRUBS  -  FLOWERING.  

  • Agapanthus.   20" by 20", shade to full sun, well drained soil, attractive sky blue flowers.
  • Allamanda.   4' to 6', full sun, well drained soil, evergreen plant with yellow blooms all year, low maintenance, dwarf variety to 2' in height.
  • Angel Trumpet.   To 10‘ in height, shade to part sun, fragrant flowers, blooms spring, summer and fall, variety of colors, poisonous.
  • Azalea.   4' to 8', Shade to part sun, prefers moist soil, great under oaks, blooms spring through fall, slow growing, many varieties.
  • Bird of Paradise Orange.  To 4', full sun, prefers rich acidic soil, clumping plant with orange and blue flowers.
  • Bird of Paradise White.   Can reach 20' to 30', sun to part shade, beautiful tropical plant that blooms winter through spring.
  • Bottlebrush.  10‘ to 15', full sun, can take wet feet, a large shrub or tree with showy red blooms spring through summer.
  • Bougainvillea.  Many varieties available, vibrant colors that put on a show fall through spring. Available as a shrub, climber and standard. 8' to 10' as a bush, dwarf varieties to 3' in height.
  • Brunfelsia.   Commonly called "Yesterday, Today and Tomorrow" because the flowers change colors daily. 2' to 8' part shade to part sun, evergreen.
  • Canna Lily.   Full sun to part shade, beautiful tropical plant with showy blooms, prefers moist soil.
  • Cape Honeysuckle.   4' to 6', full sun, blooms summer through fall, attracts hummingbirds.
  • Cassia Bahama.   3' to 8', full sun, well drained soil, yellow flowers in summer through fall, attracts butterflies.
  • Clerodendrum Starburst.   Also known as “Shooting Star", to 10', full sun to part shade, nice accent with pink and white flowers.
  • Crinum Lily.  Typical height 4', full sun to part shade, Fragrant flowers, fast grower, beautiful speciman plant.
  • Desert Rose 4' to 6' in height, full sun well drained soil, pink, white or red flowers, does well in a pot.
  • Devil's Trumpet.   2' to 3' in height, full sun to part shade, beautiful fragrant flowers, seeds are poisonous.
  • Dipladenia.  4‘ to 6', prefers sun to part shade, showy red, pink or white flowers, likes to climb.
  • Duranta Golden Dewdrop.  6' to 12', graceful arching branches, blooms year round, attracts butterflies.
  • Euphorbia.  Also known as "Crown of Thorns", many varieties ranging from 18" to 5', red, pink or white flowers, year round blooms, full sun well drained soil, drought tolerant, prune to shape.
  • Fiddlewood.  To 25’, full sun well drained soil, Florida native with fragrant white flowers, attracts butterflies.
  • Firebush.  To 15', prefers sun to part shade evergreen native plant with reddish-orange tubular flowers, attracts hummingbirds.
  • Firebush Dwarf.  3' to 6' full sun well drained soil, year round blooms,
  • attracts birds and butterflies.
  • Firecracker.  To 4' in height, full sun to part shade, fountain-like growth, attracts hummingbirds and butterflies.
  • Firespike.  4' to 6' full sun to part shade, fast grower with attractive red spikes, blooms June-February.
  • Frangi—Pani.  8' to 10', full sun, large shrub or small tree, attractive, fragrant flowers.
  • Gardenia.  4‘ to 6', full sun, moist, well drained, acidic soil, dark shiny leaves with white fragrant flowers, heavy feeders.
  • Giant Milkweed.  Sun to part shade, produces white or lavender flowers, attractive to butterflies.
  • Ginger Red Button.  2' to 3', sun to part shade, easy to grow, blooms most of the year.
  • Heliconia.  2‘ to 25‘ depending on variety, prefers full sun and well drained soil, dramatic flowers, great accent plant.
  • Hibiscus.  Hundreds of varieties, most prefer full sun and well drained soil, fast grower, year round color.
  • Ixora.  Many varieties and colors to choose from, prefers full sun, well drained soil, good hedge or accent plant with year round blooms.
  • Jasmine.  Many varieties available from 4' to 8', full sun to part shade, small white blooms that are very fragrant, good hedge or accent.
  • Jatropha.  Large shrub to 10‘, full sun to part shade, small red flowers year round, can be pruned.
  • Mahoe.  Evergreen shrub or small tree, best in full sun, flowers are large and showy.
  • Mussaenda.  4' to 6', prefers full sun, tropical shrub with small yellow flowers.​
  • Necklace Pod.  Typical height 5' to ‘10', full sun, native plant, attractive to butterflies, blooms most of the year.
  • Oleander.  6' to 12' (except dwarf variety), full sun well drained soil, drought and cold tolerant, spring—fall blooms.
  • Panama Rose.  To 18" - 24", full sun well drained soil, good border plant, blooms most of the year.
  • Plumbago.  Blue and white varieties, 3' to 4‘, full sun, drought tolerant, year round blooms.
  • Plumeria.  See Frangi—Pani.
  • Porterweed.  Full sun to part shade, 4' in height, blooms year round, attractive to butterfllies and birds.
  • Powder Puff Dwarf.  To 3' in height, full sun, good specimen plant, blooms winter months.
  • Rose Drift.  3' to 4‘. disease resistant shrub, full sun well drained soil, easy to grow, everblooming.
  • Rose Knockout.  Easy to grow, disease resistant shrub, full sun well drained soil, variety of colors.
  • Patent Roses.  To 5' depending on variety, full sun well drained soil, fortuniana root stock.
  • Ruellia Purple Shower.  To 3', full sun, constant bloomer, can take wet areas, can be invasive.
  • Sage Texas.  3' to 5', full sun, well drained soil, drought resistant, can be shaped to hedge, violet flowers.
  • Serissa Varigated.   To 3' in height, prefers light shade, small white flowers, prune after flowers are gone.
  • Shooting Star.  To 3' in height, part shade well drained soil, blooms most of the year, medium watering needs.
  • Shrimp Plant.   2' to 3' in height, part sun to part shade, Interesting flower that blooms most of the year.
  • Spathiphyllum Also known as "Peace Lily".   Grows to 3', prefers shade to part shade and rich moist soil, beautiful white flowers.
  • Spathaglottis.   Typical height 2‘, part shade rich soil, blooms year round, does well in beds or borders.
  • Sweet Almond.   6' to 8‘, prefers full sun, blooms repeatedly, fragrant flowers, attractive to birds and butterflies.
  • Tecoma.  Fast growing with yellow trumpet-like blooms, prefers full sun.
  • Thryallis.   Typical height to 3', full sun to part shade, good as hedge or accent, lasting yellow blooms.
  • Thunbergia.  3' to 6‘, full sun to part shade, purple flowers, train as a bush or vine.​
  • Tibouchina.   To 6' in height, full sun well drained soil, fast growing with purple flowers, blooms in warmer months.​
